As we thoughtfully created our COVID-19 safety plan for the Sarpy/Cass Health Department, we took into consideration the best practices of other events in the area as well as current county and state recommendations. We want to make sure everyone has a fun and safe time at the Quilt Auction.

  • All attendees must stay home if they are not feeling well.

  • Attendees are encouraged to wear protective masks at the event.

  • Keep a respectful distance from others at all times. (Recommended 6 ft. apart.)

  • Please do not touch the quilts as you are viewing them.

  • There will be hand sanitizer throughout the Quilt Auction area. We also encourage you to bring your own hand sanitizer, when possible.

  • Pre-swiping your credit card at check-in allows for a contactless check out

COVID safety plan

Here at NLOM, we’re dedicated to protecting our guests, volunteers, and employees. For everyone’s safety we ask that we make the following promises to one another:


  • We will continue to be a leader in safe sanitation and hygiene practices with all of our volunteers and staff.

  • All staff and volunteers working the day of the Quilt Auction will pass a health check at the start of their shift.

  • All common areas will post appropriate social distancing guidelines.

  • Hand sanitizer will be available to all guests, volunteers, and staff.

  • We will clean and sanitize common areas and surfaces regularly.

  • We will follow all state and local government health standards.



  • You will stay home and attend the Quilt Auction virtually if:

    • you have been exposed to COVID-19 recently or have symptoms of COVID-19 (including a fever, cough, sore throat, loss of smell or taste, or shortness of breath) you will keep everyone safe by staying home. 

    • you have tested positive with COVID-19. 

    • you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive with COVID-19 within the last 14 days.

    • you have traveled internationally within the last 14 days.

    • you have traveled to an area within the United States with a high incidence rate of COVID-19 within the last 14 days.

  • You understand masks are highly encouraged at the event, and required in some areas (inside buildings and while riding on provided transportation to/from parking areas).

  • You agree to follow the social distancing and sanitary guidelines that have been put in place to protect you and our other guests, volunteers and staff.

If you have any questions about our promise to you, please let us know and we will be happy to assist you.


Are masks required? Masks are highly encouraged in the common areas of the Quilt Auction. They are required on transportation to/from your vehicle and when going inside a building.

How are you cleaning the restrooms? We will be cleaning at regular intervals throughout the event, using disinfectant products that are approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for the use against emerging viral pathogens.

Will attendees be properly social distanced? Groups of chairs and picnic tables will be arranged 6 feet apart at the Quilt Auction site.

Do I need to bring my own water bottle? Bottled water will be available for attendees for free.

Do I need to bring my own chair? No. We ask that you do not bring your own chair, unless you have a health reason.

Can I still pay by check or cash? We do still accept check or cash for auction purchases. However, we suggest that people pre-swipe their credit cards for a contactless check out.

Can I still get a golf cart ride to/from my car? We will have transportation for individuals that need a ride between parking lots and the Quilt Auction site.

Where do we check in? Check-in is going to look different this year. When you drive into Carol Joy Holling Camp, staff and volunteers will greet you and complete the check-in process while you remain in your vehicle. 

Will we still need a bidder number? Bidder numbers will still be needed to bid on quilts for both the live and silent auctions. You will receive a bidder number when you check in.

Is there an event capacity? Yes. Per state guidelines, our capacity will be 500 people. We will have someone counting people entering the event and someone counting people leaving to make sure we stay at a safe number of guests.


Is there going to be a lunch offered? Yes, we will still be offering a boxed lunch. The cost is $7 for adults, $4 for kids (4-12), and free for children 3 and under. Our kitchen staff is following all restaurant safe food handling guidelines, including wearing masks and gloves.

How are we going to bid on silent auction items? The silent auction items will be arranged in a straight row; there will be one entrance and one exit to the area. Bidding on silent auction items will still take place with pen & paper. Please bring your own pen.  


Quilt Donations

Quilts can be delivered to Carol Joy Holling Camp starting June 1. 


The delivery or packaging of quilts will change this year

  • This year, each quilt or item must be individually wrapped in a plastic bag with the paperwork inside.

  • If mailing, please place all plastic bags into one mailing container and mark "Quilt Auction" on the package.

  • If delivering to the Carol Joy Holling Camp office, please place the wrapped packages in the container near the front door marked for quilts.

Each day a NLOM employee will be moving the quilts and items to a trailer in which they’ll be heated and then held for at least 48 hours before volunteers will prepare them for the auction. 


Because of the extra time needed to process the quilts after we receive them, all donations for this year’s Quilt Auction must be received at the Carol Joy Holling offices by 5 p.m. on Monday, July 20.

Join in this exciting day at Carol Joy Holling Camp on July 25 for our 32nd Annual Quilt Auction! The day promises good food, great fun and lots of beautiful quilts donated by friends of Carol Joy Holling Camp. The auction and lunch will be held rain or shine. Bring your friends and families! 

Absentee Bidding

You are welcome to bid on your favorite quilts even if you are unable to join us in person. Please email Heather Abbott at HAbbott@NLOM.org with the following information:

- Quilt number
- Quilt name

- Your phone number

- Your maximum bid.


No bids after 9:00 a.m. on the day of the auction.

Auction Information

Quilts in the past have auctioned for $25 to $20,000. Lance Larsen, a professional auctioneer from Cordova, NE, is volunteering his time to auction the quilts. Depending on the number of quilts donated, a selected group will be sold through a silent auction. Bidding will open at the silent auction at 9:00 a.m. and close at 1:30 p.m. with winning bids for the day released at approximately 3:00 p.m.


The quilts will have numbered cards attached indicating the order in which they will be auctioned. This way, bidders can approximate when their favorite quilts will be up for auction. The cards also include information about the quilt donor and the size, type and design of the quilt. 

Service dogs only please.


You won’t want to miss the lunch with dessert! It will be served from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. and costs $7 for adults, $4 for kids (4-12) and free for children 3 and under. Vegetarian option available upon request.
